How can I load a simple .txt file into StarLion?
From the "New project" menu we select the "Local Tab", we find the file to be loaded using either the browse button or by entering the exact path and then from the radio buttons below we select "TXT file". By pressing the "Add" button the file is added to the project. We select the namespace which appears in the list below and then we press "Open project".
Multiple Namespaces
-
I cannot distinguish the colors between different namespaces. What should I do?
StarLion uses different colors for all different namespaces that are loaded. If two namespaces have very similar colors or if the user wants to change the color of a specific namespaces this can be achieved by accessing the properties menu.
Top-K
-
What "K" should I use in the Top-K mode?
It depends on what you need. Every ranking method (Graph Degree, Random Surfer Expicit, Random Surfer Inferred) uses a different algorithm for the scoring of nodes. For more about the ranking algorithms please refer to "On Ranking RDF Schema Elements (and its Application in Visualization)"
-
What is the difference between "Nodes" and "Group of Nodes" option when I select Top-K mode?
When we use a ranking algorithm some nodes might receive the same score with some others. If we select that we are interested for the "Group of Nodes" then all nodes with the specific score will appear.
Star-Graph
-
How can I change the focus when I am in Star-View mode without accessing the menu?
When we are in Star-View mode we can change the focus by double-clicking on the desired node.
-
How can I see all edges and not only the edges that are directly connected with the focused node when I am in StarView mode?
The default application of Star-View hides the edges that are not connected with the center node. This can be changed from the properties menu in the Star-View tab.

What does the "Nail" option exactly do?
When using "Nail" in a node or a group of nodes then the nailed nodes are not allowed to move from the force-directed placement algorithm.
-
When I apply the force directed placement algorithm, I want some nodes to remain in their current position. Is this possible?
This can be achieved by nailing the desired nodes, i.e. select the node and then the "Nail" option from the Node Menu or from the Right Click menu. By using "Nail", the node is not allowed to move from the force-directed placement algorithms.
