Description of the Consortium

Partners with complementary expertise and skills compose the WebFAIR consortium. All participants bring in the consortium experiences and skills that are necessary for the successful completion of the project and have a clear and well-defined contribution.
The lead of the Consortium is assigned to ACTION PR Hellas Ltd.

ACTION is qualified and possesses the required experience to lead the project. ACTION is an enterprise devoted to organisation of international exhibition and fairs. ACTION is highly interested in the business prospects of the project. The enterprise offers to the Consortium long experience in the international business fields. ACTION brings a well-developed network of exhibition sites and will act as the information channel that will provide to the consortium the market feedback. The Project and the Exploitation Manager will be nominated by ACTION.

FORTH is participating in the project with the Computer Vision and Robotics Laboratory (CVRL) of the Institute of Computer Science. CVRL's expertise is in the field of autonomous robots and relevant applications and holds substantial experience in the sector. FORTH brings to the Consortium technology and know-how in the very specific fields that WebFAIR is addressing. FORTH is the leading partner of the TOURBOT EU-IST project, dealing with robotic tour-guides in museums. FORTH will be the bridge between the two projects and will transfer to WebFAIR the technical achievements of TOURBOT which fit to WebFAIR's specific needs. The project Technical Manager will be nominated by FORTH.

RATIO is active in the new fields of Internet and advanced telecommunications applications. RATIO brings to the Consortium experience in the development and marketing of Web based applications. RATIO contributes to the technical tasks leading WP3, delivering the tools that would enable the WebFAIR setup.

IDEASIS is a high tech enterprise specialised in service robotics and man-machine interfacing. IDEASIS brings to the Consortium expertise on new developments and contributes to the ergonomics and aesthetics of the WebFAIR avatar interface. IDEASIS is highly motivated in the project because it is a business opportunity for the company. IDEASIS contributes to the technical developments and leads WP2 related to the design of the application. IDEASIS nominates the Quality Assurance Manager.

UNIFREI participates with a laboratory specialised in autonomous mobile robots. The laboratory participates in the TOURBOT project and brings expertise in autonomous navigation and learning. UNIFREI contributes to the technical tasks leading WP6 on system integration and heavily contributing in tasks for environment exploration and pilot testing. UNIFREI acts as the technical support team of the pilot site.

UPM participates with the Department of Automatic Control, Electronic Engineering and Industrial Computing (UPM-DISAM). UPM holds expertise in industrial robotics, control engineering, autonomous robots and computer vision. UPM contributes to the technical developments, contributing to the Site Map Bulding Tool and Avatar Navigation tasks.

BELGIOIOSO is the exhibition center where WebFAIR will be pilot tested, evaluated and validated within the project course. BELGIOIOSO is familiar with high tech novelties. BELGIOIOSO will be the WebFAIR pilot application site.
