Abstract:

Dr Philippe Martin (www.phmartin.info) will introduce his research and developments (PhD + 11 years) aimed to help people create, organize, retrieve and compare knowledge representations and their associated data, within Web documents, within a large shared KB, or across KBs.
The talk will mainly be structured around two tools (demos of which will be provided):

  • WebKB-1, a personal KB server that is an adaptation to the Web of CGKAT (a knowledge acquisition tool coupling a structured document editor to a Conceptual Graph workbench); WebKB-1 has intuitive and expressive knowledge representation/query/indexation languages (CG, FCG, Formalized English, FL) that permit to mix and link knowledge representations with other document elements within documents;
  • WebKB-2, a shared KB server enabling people or software agents to store and tightly interconnect their knowledge into a large KB without having to agree on terminology or facts. The presentation of its cooperation protocols, knowledge normalisation guidelines, notations and ontologies will be the core part of the talk.
Plans for future research will also be covered. .
