CoreGRID Workshop
The
European Project CoreGrid,
in which the Distributed Computing Systems Laboratory of the Institute
of Computer Science of FORTH participates, held a Workshop on
the 12-13 June 2007 organized and hosted by FORTH at its premises,
in Heraklion, Crete. CoreGRID is a "Network of Excellence" (NoE) funded by the 6th Framework Programme of the European Commission. Its goal is to strengthen and promote scientific and technical excellence in the areas of Grid and Peer-to-Peer technologies. Towards this end, CoreGRID brings together a critical mass of experts from the 43 participating partners. The dissemination actions of CoreGrid include the organization of events, such as the Workshop that was recently organized by FORTH in Crete. This workshop has been a vehicle for presentations and exchange of ideas related to the latest advancements in the area of Grid technologies. The basic theme of the Workshop focused on the Grid Programming Model, the Grid and P2P Systems Architecture and Grid Systems, Tools and Environments. |

The
Workshop was attended by about 80 people, and was a highly successful
event, as also confirmed by the opinion of the participants, thus
leading to the decision to organize the next event of the Coregrid
Project, entitled “Integration Workshop”, again at
the premises of FORTH, in Heraklion, Crete, on 2–4 April,
2008. |
