Short CV

Dr. Haris Baltzakis is an assistant researcher at the Computational Vision and Robotics Lab of the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH). He received a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Democritus University of Thrace, Greece, in 1997 and the MSc and PhD degrees in Computer Science from the University of Crete in 1999 and 2004, respectively. Between 2004 and 2008 he was a postdoctoral researcher with FORTH-ICS where he was involved in RTD projects. Since 2008 he is an assistant researcher. His research interests are in computer vision and robotics with emphasis in autonomous robot navigation, 3D vision, vision- and laser-based tracking and hand and face gesture recognition for human-robot interaction. In these fields Dr. Baltzakis has published more than 30 papers in international journals and conference proceedings.
