2nd International Workshop on Computer Graphics in Biomedical and Biological Imaging Data (CGBBI’16)

Biomedical and biological imaging has revolutionised modern healthcare. As a consequence, vast amounts of data (Big data) are produced and conventional image processing and visualisation algorithms often fall short to address the challenges related to information extraction and visualisation. As the final stage of any medical imaging chain, visualisation with innovative use of computer graphics is a critical process in medical image analysis and understanding. This workshop aims to bring experts from both the computer graphics and the biomedical / biological imaging communities, as well as to extend to other fields that needs to visualise their data. The workshop will be a venue to generate interests, enthusiasm and interactions among the communities and act as a catalyst for further collaboration.

The workshop invites original contributions in the form of short papers (same as the CGI’16 short papers, maximum 4 pages length), that advance the state-of-the-art in computer graphics with applications in biomedical and biological imaging data. The 1st CGBBI workshop was successfully hosted in Sydney in 2014 (co-located event to CGI’14) which generated great interests in this emerging field.

Suggested topics, but not limited to, are listed below:

  • Medical imaging (e.g., PET-MR, PET-CT, MRI, fMRI, DTI, CT, US, Cellular, etc.)
  • Image processing, including segmentation, registration, quantification
  • Machine learning e.g., deep learning, classification
  • Temporal Data Visualization

  • Visual Analytics
  • Emerging Medical Devices and Technologies
  • Graphical Models
  • Human Computer Interaction
  • 3D Printing
  • Other relevant topics

Paper Publication:

All the authors of accepted short papers will be invited either to an oral presentation or to a poster presentation. The accepted short papers (2-4 pages) will be published by the ACM Digital Library within its International Conference Proceedings Series. The highest ranked short papers will be invited to submit an extended version of their work to The Visual Computer Journal; these papers will follow a fast track review process.
